Abstract: This paper analyzes the situation of the networked computer aided industrial design, and points out the deficiency of the current industrial design systems. To develop a more effective industrial design system, the concept of cloud industrial design is proposed based on cloud computing. The difference between the cloud industrial design and the existing industrial design systems is discussed. A system of the cloud industrial design and its system structure are put forward. The technical problems for realizing the cloud industrial design are also discussed. Finally, a prototype system is presented, and its functions are demonstrated.

